EAAW recently conducted a two-day training for journalists to create awareness and build their capacity so that they can help in writing and to report on farmed animal cruelty. The participants have got an opportunity to learn and understand the difference between battery caged farming and cage free farming through various presentations, video shows and field visits to broaden their understanding. As resolution for the way forward, journalist agreed to form alliance under EAAW that will support the cage free work and reporting on farmed animal cruelty and embark on supporting to educate the Tanzanian community and beyond on the best way of keeping layer hens to eliminate the notion from many people who think that the battery cage system is the right and modern way of keeping poultry.
EAAW have set out the five (5) year plan to work and involve journalists in supporting the campaign against farmed animal cruelty and environmental protection.
