DOGS PROJECT 2024
In 2024, Education for African Animals Welfare (EAAW) continued its dogs vaccination project in Tanzania. Our primary goals are to eradicate rabies in Tanzania, specifically in the Singida region, and to improve the welfare of dogs and cats. The project also aims to save the lives of people by preventing rabies transmission. In 2024, EAAW achieved significant milestones with this project.

Dogs Vaccination and Treatment: Several times throughout the year, the EAAW team travelled to the Singida region to vaccinate dogs. Over 5,269 dogs were vaccinated in 2024, marking a significant achievement. We anticipated a substantial reduction in rabies cases. Additionally, we treated dogs for skin diseases and conducted deworming, greatly improving their overall welfare. In 2025, we aim to surpass our achievements from 2024 by vaccinating even more dogs and expanding our treatment efforts.

Education and Awareness Creation: We visited various schools and community members in Singida to educate them about the effects of rabies. We produced leaflets, videos, and other materials to teach children and adults how to stay safe around dogs. This initiative is crucial because children are often at higher risk due to their close interactions with dogs. We also raised community awareness through village meetings, emphasizing the importance of vaccinating dogs. In 2025, we plan to expand our educational outreach to more schools and communities, ensuring that rabies awareness reaches even more people.
Collaboration: In 2024, we collaborated with various stakeholders and animal lovers from different countries. This collaboration boosted our morale and strengthened our commitment to vaccinating dogs and cats. In 2025, we aim to build on these partnerships and collaborate with more animal lovers and organizations from around the world.
World Rabies Week: We made this week remarkable by raising awareness about rabies in various ways. We conducted workshops with community members and vaccinated over 2,500 dogs during this week alone. As always, we plan to make World Rabies Week even more impactful in 2025 by increasing the number of dogs vaccinated and engaging more communities in our awareness campaigns.
